The weather, honestly

Early October still feels like summer - afternoons in the 90s are normal in the first week. By mid-month the evenings turn genuinely comfortable, and the last week of October is many locals' favourite weather of the year: warm days, cool nights, no wind season yet. Modernism Week – October: October 15–18, 2026

The organizer calls the fall festival Modernism Week – October, running October 15–18, 2026. Activities are individually scheduled and ticketed; use the official October program and ModTix catalog for the current date-specific options.

Check the schedule for the date and venue you intend to visit:

• VillageFest runs on Thursday evenings. Its official calendar lists 6–10pm for October 15, 22 and 29, 2026. Use the VillageFest guide for layout and parking, and check the operator's current calendar for changes.
• Farmers markets and street fairs have operator-specific locations and seasonal schedules. Check the markets calendar and confirm the individual listing before traveling.
• Palm Springs Art Museum and the Architecture and Design Center publish free Thursday admission 5–8pm. The museum guide covers current admission and registration details.

Use the current venue calendar for an art walk or other recurring activity rather than assuming every outdoor event restarts on one October date.

Match hiking to current conditions

Choose an outdoor plan from the forecast and the trail operator's current conditions. A date in mid-October does not establish that a hike will be comfortable.

Planning an October golf trip
