Cove hiking, old-school resort charm
La Quinta calls itself the Gem of the Desert and it earns the coves-and-mountains part of that claim: the city presses right up into a natural amphitheater of the Santa Rosa Mountains, giving it one of the valley’s most dramatic settings. It combines serious golf history, a walkable faux-Spanish Old Town and quiet residential cove neighborhoods with excellent early-morning hiking.

Old Town La Quinta
Main Street's pedestrian-oriented village combines restaurants, cafés, shops and courtyards. The certified farmers' market is listed for Sundays, 8 a.m.–1 p.m., October through May; check the operator's holiday notices. Use the Old Town guide for the market, free village parking and dated art events.
November art weekend
La Quinta Art Celebration Encore runs November 12–15, 2026, from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. daily at the Civic Center Campus on Calle Tampico. It is a ticketed event, separate from the free Art on Main Street program in Old Town. Plan the campus visit, a Main Street meal and hotel arrival as separate stops.
Golf
