When is Modernism Week?
The organizer lists an October 15–18, 2026 fall event and the main February 11–21, 2027 Modernism Week. The February ticket sale is planned for November 1, 2026, with a schedule preview on October 25, 2026. Confirm updates with Modernism Week. Individual tours use different locations and meeting points throughout the valley.
Stay in an architectural hotel, not just near a tour
If sleeping in an evocative property is part of your trip, Del Marcos Hotel is a mid-century architectural stay with an adults-only policy. Ace Hotel & Swim Club offers a more social pool-focused interpretation of desert design. Alcazar Palm Springs is a smaller courtyard hotel in the Uptown/Movie Colony area. Each offers a different experience from a big full-service resort, and you should compare current room photos rather than choosing from design reputation alone.
Central location versus a quiet pool
The Colony Palms Hotel gives you an upscale downtown-adjacent base. Holiday House is an adults-only boutique hotel whose draw is a design-focused stay with easy access to downtown businesses. Kimpton Rowan is the practical full-service choice when you want dining, walkability and a reliable home base without planning every evening around a car.
How to book around your tours
Use the October 25 program preview to shortlist February activities and their dates, then choose your paid tours when booking opens. Map every starting address, not only the house being visited: some tours have off-site meeting points. Then build a hotel shortlist by the geographic cluster you'll visit most. Keep buffer time for check-in, parking and mid-day traffic. A hotel on Palm Canyon Drive is excellent for dinner, but not automatically closest to a house tour in Rancho Mirage or Indian Wells.
Mid-century hotel versus resort
A small architecture hotel usually wins on character; a big resort often wins on pools, restaurants and on-site services. If you plan to spend mornings touring and afternoons resting, compare actual pool hours and room layouts. Hotels with few rooms can fill earlier, while resort inventory may vary more by date.
Booking checklist
Compare the complete cost for the same dates, room category, guests and cancellation terms. Check taxes, mandatory fees, parking, deposits and any property-specific minimum stay. A fixed September starting rate is not a quote for a February festival stay.
If reserving before the tour program is released, read the cancellation deadline and decide whether that commitment fits your plans.
