Palm Springs in November: Pride, Perfect Weather and the Start of the Season
The month the high season opens - led by Greater Palm Springs Pride
Palm Springs Spots Editors · Published Sep 10, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026

November is when Palm Springs flips fully into season: the heat is gone, the days are warm and sunny, the evenings are cool, and the first huge event weekend of the winter - Greater Palm Springs Pride - fills downtown. It is also the last month before holiday pricing. Events below were checked against official sources on September 10, 2026.
| When | What it's like | Book ahead? |
|---|---|---|
| Nov 1-5 | Ideal weather, lighter crowds, season opening | No |
| Nov 6-8 (Pride) | Festival, parade, packed downtown | Yes - hotel months ahead |
| Nov 9-25 | The sweet spot: great weather, manageable crowds | Weekend restaurants |
| Nov 26-30 (Thanksgiving) | Family wave, holiday menus, lights season begins | Yes - holiday dinner |
The weather
This is the month people picture when they picture Palm Springs: warm, sunny afternoons and evenings cool enough for a light jacket. The pool is still in play most afternoons, patios are at their best, and hiking is fully back - the whole day, not just the early morning. Rain is rare. The weather by month guide has the full ranges.
Greater Palm Springs Pride (November 6-8, 2026)
The season opener and one of the city's biggest weekends: a free festival, parties across the Arenas Road bars, and the Sunday parade down Palm Canyon Drive on November 8. Downtown hotels sell out well in advance. Dates confirmed against the organiser's published calendar. The gay Palm Springs guide covers the bars, hotels and parties in detail, and Arenas Road nightlife has the bar-by-bar rundown.
Also in November
- La Quinta Art Celebration Encore (November 12-15) - the fall edition of one of the country's top-ranked art fairs, at the La Quinta Civic Center campus.
- Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival traditionally returns in late November, but 2026 details were not yet confirmed when we last checked - verify on the organiser's site before planning around it.
- Thanksgiving week brings a family wave: restaurants book out for the holiday itself, and the season's first festival-of-lights events begin at the end of the month.
- The weekly rhythm is in full swing: VillageFest every Thursday, farmers markets on weekend mornings, the College of the Desert Street Fair on Saturdays and Sundays.
What to do
Hiking is at its best - Indian Canyons and Tahquitz Canyon work at any hour now, and the Aerial Tramway can already have a dusting of snow at the top. Pool afternoons still work most days. It is also prime Joshua Tree day trip weather. November 27-28, the Idyllwild Rotary Christmas Market runs in the mountains above town - an easy, festive day out.
Prices and booking
Peak season pricing begins, but November has pockets: the week before Pride and the week after Thanksgiving are often noticeably cheaper than the event weekends. Pride weekend and Thanksgiving week are the two periods to book well ahead - hotels and holiday restaurant reservations both. For a ready-made plan, the weekend itinerary works perfectly in November.
FAQ
- Is November a good time to visit Palm Springs?
- It is one of the best months of the year - warm sunny days, cool evenings, everything open, and the season's first big event weekend in Pride. The only trade-off is that peak-season pricing begins.
- When is Palm Springs Pride 2026?
- Greater Palm Springs Pride runs November 6-8, 2026, with the parade on Sunday, November 8 down Palm Canyon Drive. Dates confirmed against the organiser's published calendar. Book downtown hotels well in advance.
- What is the weather like in Palm Springs in November?
- Warm, sunny afternoons and evenings cool enough for a light jacket - the classic desert-winter pattern. Pools still work most afternoons, patios are ideal, and hiking is comfortable at any hour.
- Is Palm Springs crowded in November?
- Only on the two event peaks: Pride weekend (November 6-8) and Thanksgiving week. The rest of the month is the start of high season but manageable, and often better value than December through March.
- Can you hike and use the pool in November?
- Yes to both - it is the rare month where neither is a compromise. Hike Indian Canyons or Tahquitz Canyon at any hour, and most afternoons are still warm enough for the pool.
- What happens at Thanksgiving in Palm Springs?
- A family travel wave: restaurants offer holiday menus (book ahead), and the season's first lights events begin at the end of the month. It is a popular and busy week, not a quiet one.

Where to go
Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
The world's largest rotating tram car climbs 8,500 feet from the desert floor to alpine forest in ten minutes. Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is in Palm Springs. Admission: Around $30 adults. Hours: Daily from 10am (8am weekends). Parking: Large lot; fills by 11am in winter. This is an outdoor activity. From May through September, go at or before sunrise, carry more water than you think you need, and treat midday heat as a hard stop. It works with kids in tow. It is 30-40 degrees colder at the top. Bring a jacket even in July.
