Tahquitz Canyon

The Tahquitz Canyon trail starts at the Agua Caliente visitor center on West Mesquite Avenue. It is a 1.8-mile loop with 350 feet of elevation gain, officially rated strenuous because of steep rocky terrain and uneven steps. The destination waterfall is seasonal. Bring water, expect very little shade and check current access. Pets are prohibited; interpretive ranger-led hikes are included with paid admission.

Normally 7:30am–5pm; last trail entry 3:30pm. Daily October into early July, Friday–Sunday in summer. Check the live calendar for your exact date and closures.

Before you go

  • The official trail rating is strenuous despite the short distance.
  • Water is required; the trail has very little shade and no water fountains.
  • Pets are prohibited and visitors age 17 and under must be with an adult.

  • Ask rangers about current waterfall and pool access.
