Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage offers a distinctive daytime visitor experience, but its Center & Gardens and ticketed historic house visits are not interchangeable. Choose lodging for the wider weekend after confirming the tour you want.

Sunnylands is at 37977 Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270. The official site lists the Center & Gardens as normally open Wednesday–Sunday, 8:30 AM–4 PM, with self-guided garden experiences. Paid Historic House Tours and other guided activities require separate ticket reservations and can be limited or unavailable.
Sunnylands is not a hotel. There are no hotel rooms at the estate, and an adjacent city's resort should not be marketed as direct access to its private historic house.
Choose a hotel based on the weekend
Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa offers a Rancho Mirage resort base when your Sunnylands visit is part of a pool and leisure weekend. This is a separate property, not a Sunnylands lodging partner.
The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa is another Rancho Mirage resort choice for travelers combining garden time with resort or golf plans.
Miramonte Indian Wells Resort & Spa and Sands Hotel & Spa are based in Indian Wells, east of Rancho Mirage. They can be useful comparison options if you prefer a boutique or spa-oriented atmosphere and are happy to arrange transport.
JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa is in Palm Desert and may work if the visit is one stop in a broader valley trip. Its listing is not evidence of proximity by foot.
Gardens versus house tours
The Sunnylands tour page distinguishes self-guided garden activities from ticketed experiences such as the historic house tour and open-air estate tours. A visit to the Center & Gardens does not automatically include entry inside the historic house. Before reserving a nonrefundable hotel, check whether the exact tour and time are available.
If you are primarily interested in landscape architecture and desert planting, allow time for the gardens. If seeing the historic house is essential, the advance tour booking—not the hotel price—should drive your itinerary.
A two-night plan
Day one: Check into Rancho Mirage or Indian Wells and explore the resort or a nearby dinner option.
Day two: Attend your selected Sunnylands activity. Follow the official driving directions to the visitor entrance on Bob Hope Drive; the site cautions that generic GPS directions can be inaccurate. Leave the rest of the day for a meal, rest or hotel pool rather than stacking multiple timed activities.
Day three: Explore a different valley destination. Our Sunnylands guide covers visitor details, while best Rancho Mirage hotels compares the whole city's stay options.
Booking questions to answer
Confirm which days the Center & Gardens are open and whether your specific tour requires advance tickets. Then compare exact hotel room types, resort fees, parking, cancellation deadlines and your actual route to 37977 Bob Hope Drive.
Do not confuse a hotel's amenity photograph with Sunnylands access. These accommodation buttons go to hotel providers; they do not sell historic-house admission.
