Confirm the festival and Film Awards dates

The official festival page lists January 7–18, 2027 for the 38th edition. The Film Awards are scheduled for Thursday, January 7, 2027, at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

Treat the awards evening and your film-screening plan as distinct booking decisions. Check exactly what your chosen ticket, pass or package includes before buying. A screening admission should not be treated as an awards reservation.

Individual tickets or a festival pass?

Arrival time is part of the screening

The organizer advises arriving 30–45 minutes early and being seated 15 minutes before showtime, after which a seat may be released. Your admission type determines your line. If you leave the theater temporarily, request a re-entry slip from a volunteer.

Build that arrival window into every screening, rather than treating the printed start time as the time to reach the building.

Choose your hotel around the screenings you book

A downtown hotel can be useful for meals and downtown activities. It does not establish that every festival venue is a comfortable walk away. If the awards are your priority, assess the route to the Convention Center separately from your routes to screenings.

A manageable two-night festival visit

Arrival day: check in, handle any ticket or pass collection requirements and have a nearby meal. Book an evening screening only if the travel and check-in schedule leaves a comfortable buffer.

Full day: choose one priority screening, leave a real meal break and add a second film that fits the venue and arrival times. Keep a flexible gap for a recommendation you hear during the visit.

Departure day: pack and settle luggage arrangements first. A final screening works only if its full running time, exit and onward journey fit the flight or drive home.
