Where to Eat in Joshua Tree
A roadhouse, a coffee roaster and one very good restaurant in the middle of nowhere

Joshua Tree's food scene is small, and that is the point. Five or six places matter, they are all within a short drive of the park entrance, and one of them is worth the hour from Palm Springs on its own.
Eat before you enter the park — there is no food inside Joshua Tree National Park and no reliable cell service to look anything up.
La Copine
A former truck stop on Old Woman Springs Road in Flamingo Heights, about 25 minutes from Joshua Tree village, serving an ambitious seasonal menu that would be at home in Los Angeles. No reservations for most seats, long waits at peak brunch hours, closed several days a week. Check the current schedule before driving out, because people do drive out and find it shut.
Crossroads Cafe
The park-day standard: big breakfasts, strong coffee, vegetarian and vegan options and a line out the door by nine on weekends. Get there at opening or plan a wait. It is on the highway in the middle of Joshua Tree village, so you can walk to the outfitters afterward.
Natural Sisters Cafe
The counter-service option for smoothies, breakfast burritos and sandwiches, and the easiest place in town to assemble a hiking lunch to take into the park.
Joshua Tree Coffee Company
Small-batch roaster with a walk-up window, and the beans most locals buy. Not a place to sit for long; a place to fix your morning.
Joshua Tree Saloon
Burgers, beers, occasional live music and karaoke, open late by high-desert standards. It is the default after-dark option in town, and the one place you will find a crowd on a Tuesday.
Pappy and Harriet's
Twenty minutes west in Pioneertown, this is the region's famous roadhouse — mesquite barbecue and a music room that books acts far bigger than the room. Reserve dinner weeks ahead if there is a show, and note it is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
