A half-abandoned shoreline town on the eastern Salton Sea that artists have gradually turned into an open-air installation site. Sculptures, a drive-in of ruined cars, a swing set on the salt flats and painted trailers sit scattered between occupied homes and empty lots. It is free, permanently open, and best photographed in early morning or the hour before sunset. Bring water - there are almost no services, and treat the occupied houses as the homes they are.
