Indio Polo District

Empire Polo Club and the neighboring Eldorado Polo Club sit along Avenue 50 and Monroe Street, hosting Sunday polo matches through the winter season and turning into a small city each April for Coachella and Stagecoach. Outside festival weekends this is a pleasant, slow corner of Indio: you can watch a match from the lawn for a modest admission, picnic under the palms, and drive five minutes to date farms selling shakes. During festival weekends, treat every road within two miles as gridlocked and plan on shuttles or rideshare zones instead of driving in.
