Fern Valley

Most of the town's classic rental cabins — wood stoves, decks over the creek, no cell signal to speak of — sit along Fern Valley Road as it climbs toward Humber Park and the Devil's Slide trailhead, the main route into the San Jacinto Wilderness and onward to Tahquitz Peak. It is a five-minute drive but a completely different feel from the village: no storefronts, just trees, granite outcrops and quiet. Winter brings snow that sticks for days, and summer nights are cool enough for a fire.
