Desert Hot Springs
Miracle Hill is the origin story of Desert Hot Springs: the hillside where Cabot Yerxa found hot mineral water in the 1910s.
The neighborhood sits on the fault line that separates hot and cold aquifers, which is why nearly every small spa hotel in the city is within a few blocks of here. Properties are mostly ten to twenty rooms, mid-century in bones, with two or three pools kept at different temperatures — a hot soaking pool, a warm pool and a cool swimming pool. Views run south across the whole Coachella Valley to Mount San Jacinto, and because the town sits several hundred feet above the valley floor and away from resort light, the stargazing is the best of any hotel district in the region.
Hotels inside the neighborhood, closest first.
