La Quinta Cove
The access point at the top of La Quinta's Cove neighbourhood for the Bear Creek Oasis, Cove to Lake and Boo Hoff trails, running straight into the Santa Rosa Mountains from the end of a quiet residential grid. Routes range from a gentle two-mile out-and-back to a hard climb to a hidden palm oasis. Parking is limited and street-side, there is no shade, and you want to be walking at first light from April onward.
Hours: Sunrise to sunset. Best for early hikes straight off the street.
