Compare pool access, outdoor room space, dining and event-day restrictions before choosing your Palm Springs weekend base.
| Hotel | Pool eligibility | Room feature to compare | Critical booking check |
|---|---|---|---|
Ace Hotel & Swim Club4-star hotel class | Main pool 18+; family Commune Pool | Named private-patio categories | Commune Pool availability during events |
The Saguaro Palm Springs3.5-star hotel class | Minors accompanied by parent/guardian | Balcony or patio; view varies | Guest-only pool access and room location |
Which hotel fits your weekend?
Ace Hotel & Swim Club is the first option to investigate if the Swim Club, weekend music and private-patio room categories appeal to you. The Saguaro is the alternative if you want its bright design, pool-centered setting and a balcony or patio with your room.
Neither choice should come down to a social-media photograph alone. Pool eligibility, event access and the location of your room can change the experience substantially. This comparison uses official property descriptions, not a recent firsthand stay or a prediction of the atmosphere on every date.
Pools: the age rules are different
Ace's current FAQ describes its main pool as 18 and over. Families can use the Commune Pool, but Ace also warns that this pool may be unavailable during private events. Families should confirm that the suitable pool will be accessible throughout their visit before committing to a room.
The Saguaro's policies allow minors to use facilities when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Its FAQ currently limits pool access to hotel guests, with hours listed as 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Do not assume friends staying elsewhere can join you for a pool afternoon.
Pool access and a particular event are not necessarily the same purchase. Ask whether your room rate includes admission to any scheduled programming, whether tickets are separate and whether the event has a higher minimum age than ordinary pool access.
Rooms: private patio or pool view?
Ace's Patio with Garden category lists a king bed, record player and private patio. Its Patio with Fireplace category adds an outdoor lounge and fire pit. Book the named category if outdoor space is essential; a general hotel photograph is not evidence that a standard room includes it.
The Saguaro says its accommodations have balconies or patios. Its room categories distinguish views and layouts, while the Saguaro Suite description includes a separate living area and two bathrooms. Compare bedding, occupancy and floor location before choosing an upgrade.
A pool view can be a benefit if you want to watch the activity and a drawback if you want to sleep early. Ask for the proposed room's position relative to music, gathering spaces and walkways. A request for a quieter location is not a soundproofing guarantee.
Dining and time away from the pool
Ace lists King's Highway for dining, its coffee counter and the Amigo Room bar. The Saguaro lists El Jefe for Mexican food, alongside poolside food and drinks. Check current service times if your plans depend on a late meal or an early breakfast.
For evenings off property, compare transport with your restaurant plans. Our downtown restaurant guide and Palm Springs without a car guide can help you decide whether these hotels fit your itinerary.
Compare the total and the rules
Both hotels disclose additional nightly charges. Compare the checkout total for identical dates and occupancy rather than a headline room price. The Saguaro's FAQ says one car's self-parking is included in its amenity fee; additional cars cost extra. Confirm the current terms if your group is arriving separately.
The Saguaro prohibits personal speakers and outside food or beverages at the pool. Ace prohibits outside alcohol there. If you want a private group celebration, ask about an appropriate event arrangement rather than assuming a room booking permits a party in common spaces.
Before you reserve
Check the event calendar, pool availability, room category and cancellation terms together. Families should resolve Ace's pool-access question first. Anyone prioritizing sleep should also compare our quiet hotel shortlist.
